1.1 – General Rules

 

The Schengen-Visa is issued for travelling into the Countries of the European Union that have signed the Schengen Agreement.
A Visa issued by any Schengen country permits to travel freely within the Schengen area, if not stated otherwise on the visa.

Competent Embassy:

It's the Embassy of the Country of the main destination in the Schengen area.
If the main destination of the journey cannot be ascertained, the applicant should approach the Embassy of the Country which he will visit as first.

The Schengen countries include:

Austria -  Belgium -  Denmark - Finland - France -  Germany -  Greece - Iceland
Italy - Luxembourg - The Netherland -  Norway - Portugal -  Spain - Sweden.

 

Holders of ordinary passport must show up in person.
In case of visa for a tourist group, authorised and granted travel Agencies can appear instead of the applicant. The Embassy has the right to call applicant for an interview.

Submission of a visa application form, does not imply that the visa will be issued. From October the 1st 2003 according to EU regulations, the VISA application should be paid no matter if the VISA itself will be refused.

After a visa has been issued, it is not possible to modify the purpose of the journey or duration of its validity.

Furthers information about the visa system and the entry of foreigners into Italy and into the countries of the Schengen Treaty are regulated could be collected in the official website of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the address of the VISA arrangements.

The Visa Section of the Italian Embassy opens every day from Monday to Friday :
- Receive Visa Application  9:00 - 11:30
- Collect Visa  14:30 - 15:30

Fees :

The fees have to be paid in Baht according to the relevant exchange rate.
The fees depend on the type of visa request.

2.1 - VISA FOR TOURISM (Maximum duration of stay: 90 days)

This type of visa allows entry, always and only for a short visit (up to 90 days) to people who intend to travel for reasons of tourism, and who are able to prove, in relation to their economic and social status, that they are provided with sufficient means to cover autonomously any expenses incurred during the envisaged visit.

1. Application form duly completed with one photo;
2. Passport, valid at least 90 days after the expiration of visa;
3. Letter of employer confirming position in the company, date of employment, salary and period of holiday granted or, in case of ownership of the company, commercial licence;
4. Copy of bank statements showing the bank movements of the last 4 months;
5. Flight reservation (upon approval of visa roundtrip ticket with fixed dates has to be shown);
6. Confirmation of hotel reservation or invitation letter with authenticated signature;
7. For children (under 18 years old) traveling with only one parent, the written consent of the other parent issued by the district office;
8. For applicants whom do not hold Thai passport, also the work permit and the re-entry visa is necessary.

2.2 – VISA FOR BUSINESS (Maximum duration of stay: 90 days)

1. Application form duly completed with one photo;
2. Passport, valid at least 90 days after the expiration of visa;
3. Letter of employer confirming position in the Company and details of business trip;
4. Business License of the Company;
5. Invitation letter from the Italian business partner sent directly to the Embassy by Fax No.2854791 or 2854793;
6. Proof of financial means;
7. Flight reservation (upon approval of visa roundtrip ticket with fixed dates has to be shown);
8. For applicants whom do not hold Thai passport, also the work permit and the re-entry visa is necessary.

The Italian Embassy reserves its right to request additional documents.

2.3 - VISA FOR TRANSIT   (Maximum duration of stay: 5 days)

1. Application form duly completed with one photo;
2. Passport, valid at least 90 days after the expiration of visa;
3. Letter of employer confirming position in the company, date of employment and salary or in case of ownership of the Company, commercial license is required;
4. Bank statements;
5. Visa to enter the destination country;
6. Roundtrip ticket with closed date of entry and exit to and from Italy.

The Italian Embassy reserves its right to request additional documents.

2.4 – VISA FOR STUDY (Maximan duration of stay: 365 days)

1. Application form duly completed with one photo;
2. Passport, valid at least 90 days after the expiration of visa;
3. Enrolment certificate;
4. Health insurance covering the duration of stay and testifying the right to hospitalisation assistance in Italy;
5. Written declaration by parents for assuring financial support;
6. Flight reservation (upon approval of visa roundtrip ticket with fixed dates has to be shown);
7. For children (under 18 years old) the consent written by parents.

The Italian Embassy reserves its right to request additional documents.

2.5 – VISA FOR WORK ( Maximum duration of stay: 365 days )

1. Application form duly completed with one photo;
2. Passport, valid at least 90 days after the expiration of visa;
3. Work permit (authorisation to work in Italy) issued by the Ministry of   "Lavoro e Previdenza Sociale" in Italy;
4. Health certificate;

The Italian Embassy reserves its right to request additional documents.

2.6 – VISA FOR FAMILY REUNION (on the basis of  99 days according to internal convention)

For parents of foreigner :

1. Application form duly completed with one photo;
2. ‘NULLA OSTA’ issued by the competent police headquarters (Questura) enclosed with the following documents:
- Birth certificate of the foreigner who are resident in Italy (in order to prove their family tie);
- Resident certificate of the applicant;
- Memorandum issued by the competent district office (in Thailand) testifying that the applicant is totally charged to the foreigner and incapable of working.
The above- mentioned documents need to be translated in Italian and legalized by the Embassy
3. Copy of the permit of stay (Permesso di Soggiorno) of the foreigner.

The Italian Embassy reserves its right to request additional documents.


For children (under 18 years old) of foreigner:

1. Application form duly completed with one photo;
2. ‘NULLA OSTA’ issued by the competent police headquarters (Questura) enclosed with the following documents:
- Birth certificate of the foreigner who are resident in Italy (in order to prove their family tie);
- Resident certificate of the applicant;
- Written consent issued by the district office in case of the applicant unite only one parent in Italy;
The above- mentioned documents need to be translated in Italian and legalized by the Embassy
3. Copy of the permit of stay (Permesso di Soggiorno) of the foreigner.


For spouse of foreigner:

1. Application form duly completed with one photo;
2. Marriage certificate and memorandum translated in Italian and legalized by the Embassy;
3. Copy of the permit of stay (Permesso di Soggiorno) of the foreigner

  2.7 – VISA FOR FAMILY REASON  (Maximum duration of stay: 365 days)

Being a spouse or dependent parent of a "non-alien" (including, obviously, an Italian citizen) resident in Italy, intend to reside
with him or her for an open period of time in our country.

For spouse of "non-alien":

1. Application form duly completed with one photo;
2. Marriage certificate and memorandum translated in Italian and legalized by the Embassy;
3. Declaration ,with signature authenticated by Italian authorities, of non-foreigner requesting visa for the applicant.

The Italian Embassy reserves its right to request additional documents.

For parents of "non-alien"

1. Application form duly completed with one photo;
2. Birth certificate of the non-foreigner;
3. Resident certificate of the applicant;
4. Declaration, with signature authenticated by Italian authorities, of non-foreigner requesting visa for the applicant.
